4th of July 2021
NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA
The Fourth of July in 2020 was so surreal with the only local parade being an unsanctioned boat parade in the harbor and only illegal fireworks being shot off. Usually there is a massive neighborhood bike parade and party in the park to start the day and I have a perfect spot across the street from the house to watch to watch one fireworks show and I can see three other shows in the distance. Another thing missing last year were the crowds and partying on the peninsula and boardwalk. Some normalcy returned in 2021. The local bike parade was massive, bars by the pier had lines to get in, and fireworks shows were back. I think the most promising thing I witnessed was a group of people in their twenties at 36th Street who were having a huge egg toss competition. It was just nice to see people laughing and living life.
